Modern Art Duo
In this painting I focused on modern colors, texture and contrast of light and dark. These pieces remind me of my dad, Kent J. Parrish, who was an architect. My sister and I worked with him for many years. He had an amazing feature wall in his office covered with lacy thin sheets of bamboo over a black base. The textures and colors of the artwork have a similar look. They are modern as well as timeless. My sister, Jan, became an Architect and I went into the Fine Arts field. When I finished the two pieces, I entered my living room and picked up a mechanical pencil that was left on the end table. It was labeled “Parrish Architects”. My dad had passed away nine years earlier and I hadn’t seen one of those pencils for maybe 30 years. However it got there, I like to think of it as a message from my father saying, “Hello, dear daughter. Thanks for thinking of me”. I love you Dad.
